Worth noting
- The teams last met in the 2000 Maui Invitational. Dayton took an 88-60 victory on Nov. 20, 2000.
- Dayton coach Archie Miller has run into the Huskies before. He was a member of the N.C. State team that lost to UConn, 77-74, in the second round of the 2002 NCAA Tournament. Miller scored nine points in the game, which saw Caron Butler drop 34.
- Dayton also played in the 2009 Puerto Rico Tip-Off.
- Amida Brimah had 14 points in UConn’s win Thursday. It was the second straight time he reached double figures and just the sixth time in his career.
- Dayton got killed in the rebounding department, 47-26, in a first-round win over Texas A&M but ironically won the game on an offensive rebound tip-in with 0.9 seconds to play. It was Dayton’s eighth offensive rebound of the game.
- UConn had just two fast-break points against Charleston after scoring 21 in the opener against Bryant.
- UConn guard Omar Calhoun (knee) did not play Thursday and is likely out for the remainder of the tournament.
